The approximate location of Limmine was discovered on an accurately drawn 19th-century plat. By aligning the patent boundary with a more recent topographic map, researchers were able to conjecture locations of several old placenames like Lawson's Marsh and Linn Branch. These maps confirmed the location of the Chiles Homesite within these ancient tracts.
