Buttons

Buttons from Structure 1 include: a - “reeded” face, b - sunburst on lined field, c - tin-plated, d-e - plain.
An even wider variety of buttons was recovered from Structure 2: a - maroon on white enamel face (no back), b - white and red enamel face with ferrous back, c - plain lead, d - floral foliate pewter, e - copper alloy, two part face with pierced decoration, f - copper alloy face with crescents on lined field and bone back, g - pewter, rosette with lattice surround design, h–i - tin-plated copper alloy, j - copper alloy.

Many other plain tin-plated buttons such as these could not be associated with a particular structure. Traces of gilding were found on the button at far right.
