Fourteen coins were recovered from the Southall's Quarter site, including the three "quartered" Spanish silver reals shown above. Due to a shortage of currency in the Virginia colony, foreign coins were a valid substitute. Two of the Spanish coins were identifiable, b possibly stamped 1725 and c from the reign of Charles III (1758-1788). The copper coins include: d - a George II (1727–1760) penny, e-f - Virginia halfpennies dated 1773.

At right: a copper alloy mouth harp and a clay marble.
